As the kick-off event for BAM's Afro-Punk Festival (a celebration of revolutionary movies, music & art, June 28-July 7), legendary Black Panther Co-Founder Bobby Seale comes to BAM on Thursday, June 28 at 7pm to discuss the history of the movement: where it's been and where it's going.
Accompanying this discussion are two historic short films from 1969 by the Newsreel collective: May Day Panther, a document of the historic Free Huey rally in San Francisco, and Bobby Seale, an interview conducted during his imprisonment.
The discussion will be followed by a book signing and art reception in the lobby featuring historic photographs by Stephen Shames and Afro-Punk/Black Panther-inspired work from the Pratt students.
I hope you will be able to join us.
